Morph Cloud is built around Infinibranch: full-state VM snapshots that can preserve running computational state and branch or restore environments in under 250ms under documented conditions. Its Devboxes add persistent, shareable full VMs with SSH, tmux, previews, IDE integrations, and scale-to-zero behavior.12 AgentVM is built around bounded Linux machines across supported cloud providers, with hard runtime and spend limits, guest-native operations, durable data routing, secure Connections, and machine payments.34
The biggest difference is where each platform pushes hardest. Morph makes VM state cheap to capture and branch. AgentVM makes a cloud-machine lease, its data paths, credentials, and purchasing boundaries explicit.
Morph branches state
Morph documents snapshots that capture complete VM state and can be used to create new instances whose processes continue from the captured point. Infinibranch is designed for parallel exploration, debugging, testing, and agent evaluation where duplicating a live environment quickly is the central primitive.1
Devboxes package those primitives into programmable development workspaces with SSH, tmux, browser access, live previews, secrets integration, and persistent sessions.12
AgentVM bounds the lease
AgentVM exposes approved provider-backed Linux machines with a maximum runtime, visible maximum charge, normal SSH identity, and provider lifecycle. Guest-native execution, filesystem access, background processes, named HTTPS/WebSocket services, telemetry, and snapshots where supported sit on top of that machine contract.3
The current memory-preserving suspend/resume contract is capability-gated for HelixCore and is not presented as equivalent to Morph-style full-state branching until the backing hypervisor actually advertises and implements it.
AgentVM routes data
AgentVM Data Relay accepts durable HTTP, OTLP, and persistent MQTT ingress and can fan deliveries into managed HTTP, OTLP, S3-compatible, PostgreSQL, and Kafka REST-compatible destinations with retry, replay, dead-letter state, filters, and JSON transforms.3
Connections add a machine-scoped HTTPS path where AgentVM injects approved bearer or API-header credentials outside the guest. That is useful when the problem is not only preserving compute state, but safely connecting an autonomous machine to production systems.
Storage is explicit
Morph exposes persistent Devboxes and volume-backed workflows alongside its snapshot lineage.12 AgentVM separates provider-backed persistent block volumes from S3/R2/GCS object mounts so the storage semantics are visible to the operator.3
The first AgentVM persistent-volume provider is Hetzner. AWS, OVHcloud, and HelixCore volume adapters remain roadmap work rather than being implied as current parity.
Pick the primitive
Choose Morph when near-instant full-state snapshots, branching, restored process state, persistent Devboxes, and parallel environment exploration are central to the workload.12
Choose AgentVM when you want bounded multi-cloud machine acquisition, durable event ingress and egress, secure credential injection, provider-backed block storage, explicit runtime/spend controls, and an agent-native payment path.34
